Animal Crackers at Dickson TN’s Amadeus Theater

Off the subject of Real Estate for a moment, and not to Animal Cracker the snack…though they are quite tasty. This weekend we went to the Amadeus Community Theater in Dickson, TN for the Marx Bothers production Animal Crackers. We enjoyed it so much that I felt, I should share our experience here so that our readers in the Dickson area might check it out.

…side note before I start this: Dickson has tons of Character because of places like the Amadeus Community Theater (ACT), which I should note I didn’t even know existed until my friend Abigail told me about it. Thanks Abby! Either way, just another reason to consider moving to Dickson Tennessee!

First off, I love this kind of humor. I love the way that Amadeus director Ed May says:

“It’s no surprise that each generation re-discovers the Marx Brothers, The Marx Brothers humor isn’t based on a specific time or place. It is the very definition of zany, madcap comedy that continues to withstand the test of time.”

The entire cast was excellent and had me chuckling and laughing all evening. I felt that Grum Whited did an excellent job of playing Captain Spalding, especially with some of the plays on words he had to do. Quite impressive. And though he did not speak a single line, the Professor, played by Cody Peek was extremely entertaining. In fact, in the program is even says “Cody Peek…He was convinced to be in this show because he had no lines.”Animal Crackers

The theater room was smaller but quite comfortable and welcoming. The staff and cast that we talked to were great too. Refreshments were served free of charge during the intermission. ACT’s production of “Animal Crackers” runs weekends from February 8th through February 24th at their theatre 102 North Main Street in Dickson. Show times are Fridays and Saturdays at 7:00pm and Sundays at 2:00pm. Tickets are $12 for Adults, $10 for Seniors (55 and older) and students, and $5 for Children under 12. Sunday matinees are “Senior Days” with Senior tickets only $5. For tickets or more information, contact Amadeus Community Theatre at 615-446-4340 or online www.amadeusentertainment.org.
