Old Homes in Dickson

Want to buy an old home with loads of character?  The good news is they are priced much cheaper than the newer homes.  New homes are just not built and decked out like older homes.  I am working with some buyers on a contract right now on a home that is 90 years old.  There are some things you should know before deciding this is what you want.  Don’t be fooled by the lower price.  There will be more expenses that come with an older home than the newer homes.  Utilities are much higher.  There is more maintenance, so you need to be prepared to be a “handy man” or pay for one to do work for you.  More than likely, the systems in the home will be dated and need updating soon.  The electrical work and plumbing may not be up to code and need fixing.  If this discourages you already, then an old home is not for you.  I personally think if you can afford it, it is worth it.  They have so much charm.  Just buy a home for less than what your lender says you can afford so that you have money left over in the budget to take proper care of your older home.  Here are some pictures from older homes for sale in Dickson County that you may enjoy.  If you see something you like, give me a call and I will get you in to see if its the home you want to buy.
